Uni defeats Lasalians 20-6

first_imgUniversity proved too strong, defeating Lasalians 20-6 in round five of the Capital Rugby Union competition B Grade division today in Port Moresby.The Uni Piggies, who are currently fourth on the points ladder, were on fire in the first half, scoring two tries but  unsuccessful  with conversions.Piggies’ first try came 10 minutes into the game through Willie Tepa who scored a corner try following quick passes and great footwork displayed by the forward pack.The Piggies backline was strong throughout the entire first half, preventing Lasalians, who currently sit ninth on the points ladder, from scoring.They scored again 15 minutes later from a great run away try through Kenneth Vagi taking the score up by another five points while Lasallians struggled to score as they trailed terribly at half time 10-0.Lasalians came firing back in the second half but not enough to taste victory after they scored only one try through Curtis Yagas, followed by a successful conversion from Dickson Watt Jr taking the score to 10-6.Piggies continued to score in the last 20 minutes of the game with two more tries from Elias Misi and Koneva Levi as they settled on 20-6 at full time.In other results, Brothers defeated Crusaders 15-13, Wanderers thrashed Spartens 41-0 and North Harbor Vikings defeated Southern Chiefs 14-5.last_img
