JACK MURRAY – “WE WON’T BE STRAYED BY THE WARPED AND MISGUIDED CALLS OF ANOTHER COUNCILLOR”

first_imgCllr Jack Murray has accused Cllr Michéal Cholm Mac Giolla Easbuig of political ineptitude.Sinn Féin Cllr Jack Murray has criticized Independent Cllr Michéal Cholm Mac Giolla Easpaig for demanding fellow County Councillors boycott a briefing by Irish Water in Carrick-On-Shannon next week.Murray believes a boycott of the meeting would let Irish Water off the hook, and said that his party will seize every opportunity to meet Irish Water and raise their objection to water charges.Cllr Murray believes the call for councillors not to attend a meeting with Irish Water in Carrick-on-Shannon is a display of political ineptitude. Cllr Murray said, “Sinn Féin is fighting water taxation at every opportunity. We have proven that we can abolish the charges through our alternative budget.“We consistently raised our opposition to the charges in the Dáil, Donegal County Council and at every forum possible.“We have repeatedly demanded that Irish Water representatives meet Donegal County Council in Lifford but disappointingly they have refused to do so.“Now a meeting between Irish Water and local representatives has been organised to take place in Carrick-on-Shannon. “While we would rather meet them in Donegal, we will seize every opportunity to raise our objections with them.Cllr Murray said he disagreed with calls to ignore the meeting.“A call from Michael Cholm Mac Giolla Easpaig for councillors not to meet Irish Water will be met with delight by government party representatives and Irish Water executives.“If we didn’t attend it would let them off the hook.“The councillor who is making this call also chose to boycott a vote in Donegal which could have reduced the property tax for struggling people here. “He also failed to attend an important vote on wind farms in the county.“This ‘bury your head in the sand’ style of politics helps no one. Thousands of people in Donegal voted for Sinn Féin to fight austerity.“That is exactly what we will do. We won’t be strayed by the warped and misguided calls of another councillor.JACK MURRAY – “WE WON’T BE STRAYED BY THE WARPED AND MISGUIDED CALLS OF ANOTHER COUNCILLOR” was last modified: October 23rd, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:Jack MurrayMicheál Cholm Mac Giolla EasbuignewsPoliticsSinn Feinlast_img read more
