The youngster, who is also the reigning World Junior Champion, had injured his ankle during in his first bout which turned troublesome later. That necessitated his withdrawal from the final where the gold was handed to Iran’s Hassan Aliazam Yazdani. If Punia would have won the match, he could have been the second wrestler to win gold. Only Sushil Kumar had clinched the gold in 2010 in Moscow. “I am a bit disappointed that I couldn’t fight for the gold but I am happy with my overall performance here.
