FESCO Wraps Up Summer Navigation in the Arctic

first_imgImage Courtesy: FESCORussia’s intermodal transport operator FESCO Transportation Group has completed the summer navigation in the eastern sector of the Arctic Region.During the season, the company’s icebreaker Admiral Makarov provided pilotages of the vessels with containers, general and national economic cargo to the ports and the port-points of Chukotka and the Northern Sea Route (NSR).The 7,560 dwt Admiral Makarov provided navigation of 31 vessels which delivered 78,000 tons of general cargo to the ports of the NSR and taken out 67,000 tons during the vessel’s Arctic voyage which lasted from July 18 to November 25, 2016.Besides the 14,058 gross ton Admiral Makarov, FESCO’s ice-class general cargo ships FESCO Pevek and FESCO Primorye also took part in the Arctic summer-autumn season transportation, according to the company.FESCO has been providing pilotage of vessels through the Northern Sea Route at the request of the Federal Maritime and River Transport Agency of the Russian Federation since 2004. The company said it has been providing ships navigation in the Arctic along the Northern Sea Route for more than 60 years.Additionally, FESCO ice-class cargo vessels deliver general cargo to the northern ports of Russia.last_img read more
