A new ‘Cross Government Action Plan’ for the voluntary sector is to be presented by a team from the Home Office, Department of Health, ODPM, DWP and DfES at this year’s ACEVO Funding Roadshow in May.Launched in early May, the plan will be a package of practical measures and support designed to achieve a major improvement in the provision of public services by the voluntary sector.Organised annually by fundraising consultancy Action Planning, the Roadshow consists of four one-day conferences featuring presentations from the key statutory, lottery and trust funders. Advertisement Howard Lake | 10 April 2006 | News The conferences will be held at the QEII Conference Centre, London on 23 May, the Heart of England Conference Centre, Coventry on 14 June, the ‘At-Bristol’ Centre on 21 June and at the Lowry Gallery, Manchester on 4 July. Speakers and topics include Simon Hebditch, the Chief Executive of CapacityBuilders, and his team on the £150 million ChangeUp programme which they run for the Home Office; Stephen Dunmore, the Chief Executive of the Big Lottery Fund, and his regional team on the Fund’s latest programmes; and Una O’Brien, Head of Policy Development at the Department of Health, on the NHS reforms, including changes to PCT commissioning, and their implications for the sector.Stephen Bubb, Chief Executive of ACEVO, will use the events to consult delegates on ACEVO’s input to the Chancellor’s review of the future role of the sector.Organisers Action Planning will offer a session on how to bid successfully for public sector contracts. Each conference will also include a regional funders panel, offering delegates the chance to meet and question statutory, lottery and trust funders serving their region.
