Mr Xydias who was accused of sexually attacking 11 women between 1991 and 2006 is considered as one of the worst sex offenders ever prosecuted in Victoria. He pleaded guilty to a total of 86 charges including 25 of rape and 61 of sexual assault. Before his attacks he would drug his victims, possibly with the date rape drug Rohypnol and would later film these acts. His arrest was coincidental as the police was called in to investigate allegations of a hidden camera installed in a change room of a restaurant where Mr Xydias used to work as a chef. The hidden camera claims were never substantiated but as the case was unravelled police managed to recover 17 tapes that Mr Xydias had made of his victims which he kept in two family houses in Glen Iris and Dromana respectively. The victims aged between 19 and 39 only became aware of the attacks after they were shown the videos by the investigators.last_img read more
