On his way to a match-winning 67 off 51 balls against West Indies in the 2nd T20I in Florida, Rohit Sharma claimed the one major T20I record which he didn’t own till then – maximum career sixes in the format.Rohit surpassed Chris Gayle as the batsman with the highest number of sixes in T20Is (107 in total). He already held the record for the most runs, centuries, boundaries and 50+ scores in T20Is. The latest achievement surely means that Rohit Sharma can now claim to be the undisputed King as far as T20Is are concerned. In 96 T20Is, Rohit leads the way with 2,422 runs with Indian captain Virat Kohli following him close on 2,310 runs. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill rounds up the top-3 with 2,272 runs to his name.On the list of cricketers with most centuries in T20Is, Rohit tops the charts with 4 100s followed by Glenn Maxwell and Colin Munro, who have hit 3 centuries each for Australia and New Zealand respectively.Rohit’s knock of 67 on Sunday also helped him topple Kohli as the batsman with most fifty-plus scores in T20Is. Rohit now has 21 such scores as compared to Kohli’s 20, who is yet to score a century in the shortest format of the game for India.Even though Kohli has hit the most number of 4s (225) in T20I history, Rohit sits at the top once you consider the total number of boundaries (4s + 6s). With 215 fours and 107 sixes, Rohit’s boundary tally of 322 is miles ahead of the rest with only Guptill (303) coming close to the maverick opener.advertisementRohit will have another chance on Tuesday to boost his numbers even further when India and West Indies face off in the 3rd and final match of the series in Guyana. Also Read | India vs West Indies: Rohit Sharma breaks Chris Gayle record for most sixes in T20IsAlso Read | 2nd T20I: Rohit Sharma, Krunal Pandya star as India beat West Indies to take unbeatable series leadFor sports news, updates, live scores and cricket fixtures, log on to Like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter for Sports news, scores and updates.Get real-time alerts and all the news on your phone with the all-new India Today app. Download from Post your comment Do You Like This Story?
