Advocacy groups in Hamilton want to make sure the needs of the poor are not forgotten in this campaign. They’ve issued a challenge today to all parties to engage in a dialogue on poverty issues and on a strategy to reduce it. Tom Cooper, director of the Hamilton Round Table for Poverty Reduction, spoke to CHCH about the effort.
According to a spokesman in New York, one of the agency’s offices in Kabul was broken into Monday night. The area was sealed off for evidence collection by Afghan police right after the incident was reported, and there is a joint investigation underway with UN security.”No one was hurt in the incident,” the spokesman said. “We understand that some cash was taken from the office during the break-in, but we have no information as to the amount.” The ongoing investigation should determine exactly what was taken.
